The Future of Zero Emission Haulage
Our pioneering Roadrunner haul truck runs entirely on battery-electric power. It’s a major step towards a zero-carbon future for mining.
Mining's Emissions Challenge
The mining industry needs to urgently tackle its diesel emissions and cut fossil fuel dependence. Fortescue is leading the charge with an ambitious goal to replace its diesel haul trucks with eco-friendly alternatives, aiming for a zero-emission fleet by 2030.
Introducing Roadrunner
Developed in partnership with Liebherr, this 240-tonne battery-electric haul truck is engineered to transform the industry. Powered by a 1.4 MWh battery from our Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE) team, it offers rapid 30-minute charging and energy regeneration during downhill driving, setting a new standard for sustainable mining.
Roadrunner is set to revolutionise mining haulage by dramatically reducing emissions without sacrificing load capacity.
It’s a key part of Fortescue’s strategy to achieve a zero-emission fleet by 2030, driving significant reductions in fossil fuel use across operations.
What Makes the Roadrunner a Game-Changer?
Designed for efficiency and power, the Roadrunner leads the way in zero emission solutions. We are setting new standards for energy use, load capacity and fleet expansion.
